Founded in 1989, Innvotec has principally invested in early-stage, technology-based businesses. Innvotec's business model has evolved over time to one of providing regulatory environment and fund management expertise to teams skilled in exploiting, and commercialising emerging technology and IP.
Innvotec has operated in the venture capital sector longer than most and probably possesses an unrivalled depth of knowledge and experience needed to support businesses as the rapidly changing world and economic climate favours the fleet of foot business that is capable of generating and quickly commercialising know how and intellectual property.
Innovation will provide the driving force behind creating sustainable growth and wealth creation, the businesses created to exploit innovation are the prime candidates to receive venture capital.
Innvotec has thought long and hard as to why there is a scarcity of cash for investment whilst the demands for equity from emerging, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) rich businesses increases. It has concluded, perhaps not surprisingly, that successful investing starts with looking for ways to reduce levels of risk and has identified the individuals tasked with the sourcing of opportunities and developing the underlying companies as the area of risk on which to focus.
Instead of investing on an ad-hoc basis in different companies with different entrepreneurs, Innvotec has adopted a policy of pro-actively seeking out teams that have proven skills in identifying, evaluating and commercialising know-how and intellectual property, and then partnering with such teams to raise funds dedicated to investing in new opportunities built around their entrepreneurial expertise. This approach means that each of our investments have a proven management team that we have worked with in the past, which goes a long way towards minimising the greatest risks that are inherent in start-up and early stage business.
