Many of the corporates active in making venture style investments now prefer to have dedicated internal teams in the belief that the investment focus will be more specific to their needs and that greater benefits will ensue. Performance surveys do not validate this hypothesis as internal teams are typically focused on the underlying technology and not on the development of the business; internal teams cannot draw on the breadth of experience needed in venture investing.
